About Kolamadala

Sri Lanka's premier spice & herbal haven nestled in the picturesque rolling hills of Matale.

Our Story

Where Nature & Heritage Meet

Located in Singhawatta, Walliwela, Matale — the world-renowned historic capital of Ceylon spices — Kolamadala was established with a singular vision: to preserve and share Sri Lanka’s legendary spice heritage in its purest, most authentic form.

For centuries, the temperate climate, rich tropical soil, and abundant mountain rainfall of Matale have nurtured spices coveted by ancient empires and modern gourmets alike. At Kolamadala, we cultivate over 50 varieties of indigenous and exotic spice and herbal plants using 100% organic, chemical-free methods.

Nestled within the lush grounds is our scenic small tank (wawa) — a quintessential element of traditional Sri Lankan agro-ecology that gently irrigates our spice groves, cools the tropical breezes, and provides a serene haven for water lilies and visiting songbirds.
